How did Philtronics become aware of Network75?
"Rob Bennett (CTO), worked for another Network75 host company in his previous role at Astra Games, Bridgend. His experience of the scheme was so positive that he was keen to introduce the scheme at Philtronics. It aligns with our strategy of employing young, local talent, studying at a degree level, and enables us to give context to the academic base in the work environment".
How many Network75 Trainees have Philtronics hosted?
"Our first Network75 Trainee, Kieran joined in September 2018 and is currently completing year 3 of the BEng (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree course. Our second Network75 Trainee, Ben joined us in September 2018 and is currently completing year 2 of the BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering degree course. Both trainees have been an asset to the company and as such we are keen to offer an opportunity to a third Network75 student from September 2021".
What benefits have Philtronics gained from hosting Network75 Trainees?
"The Network75 scheme is a 5-year commitment that helps host companies nurture their future employees. Compared with normal graduates, Network75 Trainees gain invaluable hands-on experience throughout their 5 years and become real assets to their host companies. On completion, Philtronics will have the opportunity to employ someone who knows our business inside out".
What advice would you give to a company thinking about engaging with the Network75 scheme?
"Host companies will need to nominate a mentor who will help guide the Network75 Trainees in line with their course content and company expectations. Although courses are subject-specific, we find that it is a good idea for the Network75 Trainees to spend time in various departments of the business to gain an understanding of each department and how they interact and impact each other".
Would you recommend the scheme to other companies?
"We would 100% recommend the scheme to other companies!"
