The BBC has produced a press release to document their partnership with Network75 at the BBCs Finance Centre of Excellence in Cardiff. The partnership has also featured in a recent case study on the BBC Finance Centre of Excellence for the Welsh Government
The BBC Finance Centre of Excellence has teamed up with the University of South Wales to offer student work placements which allows them to combine working in a relevant sector whilst studying for a degree.
As part of the University’s Network75 programme the BBC Finance Centre of Excellence offers perfect learning opportunities for those wishing to pursue a financial career in a highly creative and dynamic industry.
The Finance Centre of Excellence currently employs two Network75 students, Heather Morgan from Port Talbot and Lucy Cleary from Cardiff. Both students have been in place since September 2014. They have worked on a range of projects, from simple balance sheet reconciliations to learning to understand the mechanics of how depreciation works.
Leighton Davies, Director of the BBC Finance Centre of Excellence says “This is a fantastic opportunity which assists businesses in finding the best staff possible.”
“Network75 not only gives companies like the BBC the opportunity to help mould the skills of the next generation of staff, it also gives students the chance to exit university debt-free as the tuition fees are fully funded” he adds.
As well as the day-to-day support from their team they work in, students are also under the pastoral care of a BBC mentor who helps to ensure they are happy within the workplace. During this work placement, students will acquire the fundamental skills needed to be able to work effectively within a leading broadcaster in the media industry.
“We are delighted to have the BBC’s Finance Centre of Excellence on board for the Network75 scheme” says Louise Hawker, Management Coordinator at Network75.
“To be engaged with such a prestigious brand as the BBC further enhances our reputation and will assist us in recruiting the most talented students” adds Louise.
